Health and nutrition practices have always been an integral part of Kris Wear’s life. Since the early age of six, Kris has been submersed in World of Nutrition (WON) and the amazing products sold there. Her mother Cheryl Wear, the former owner of World of Nutrition, passed the torch down to Kris in 2013. Today her, and her wife Allison, operate WON in downtown Nampa, Idaho. Despite growing up in a health food store however, Kris hasn’t always been the picture of health. Today Kris is going to talk a little about that (and so much more) in this special segment of “Getting to Know the CEO: Kris Wear.”

Kris, what was growing up at WON like for you?It was hard growing up as the obese daughter of a health food storeowner and a chiropractor. I started dieting when I was a child because I had the resources to try to make myself healthy, but was never successful at the weight loss part until later in life.it.

What have you done to improve your health?
Starting 10 years ago Allison and I quit smoking cigarettes, launching us onto a progressively better path to health. We have since lost weight, started exercising daily, adopted a whole food diet, and feel amazing enough to yell it from the rooftops what making changes to your health can do for your quality of life.
Do you have a favorite pastime?
Since I work so much and my health is so important to me, I would say that I spend most of my free time working on my health. I love to run, either on my treadmill in my house, outside or in local races. I also love to do yoga and make that a daily practice. Cooking and creating delicious, healthy meals is also something that takes a large amount of my time.

Tell me about those cute pups of yours! What is your favorite thing about your pets?
The French Bulldogs that come to work with us are named Della and Ima. They are the most amazing dogs… and yes; I’m kind of biased. They make me laugh (a lot of times until I cry) and smile on a daily basis. We also have a Chocolate Lab, Deuce, and two Siamese cats named Teddy and Tupper.

If you could describe 1-3 “WON essential” for every customer what would they be?
Only three? Take a great quality multi-vitamin, omega 3 fish oil, and a high quality live probiotic. Also, cut out as much processed food as you possibly can, drink water and get some exercise… that way all of the amazing supplements we sell will work better for you.

Ok onto the fun questions! What’s your favorite color?
Blue

Favorite smell?
Peppermint

Weirdest (but most interesting) food you’ve eaten to date?
Well, people think I’m weird for the breakfast that I eat... which is hard-boiled eggs and sauerkraut.

If you could visit one place in the entire world, where would it be?
Wow, this is the toughest question. I have never been to Europe so I would love to go to there, especially to The Netherlands, Italy and Spain. I would also love to go to Peru to visit Machu Picchu and learn about the amazing medicinal herbal remedies that grow there.

Favorite TV show or movie to date?
My favorite TV show is Seinfeld because of the memorable one-liners and how much it makes me laugh. My favorite movie of all time is Forrest Gump because it makes me laugh, and also makes me cry, no matter how many times I have seen it.
