Hydrosols are the co-products that result from the steam distillation of essential oils. It is the water left over after the essential oil has been extracted. For example, distilling lavender produces 4 liters of essential oil, and 60 gallons of hydrosol. Veriditas hydrosols will contain anywhere between 2% and 5% essential oil and weak acids not extracted into essential oil. They are used in French Medicinal Aromatherapy. They are all antimicrobial, hydrating and toning. Because they microfilter and distill the water, Veriditas hydrosols have a longer shelf life than most other hydrosols. Keep your hydrosol out of the heat and direct sunlight. If you see fuzzy matter in your hydrosol it has spoiled. They should keep for six months to a year if not longer. Melissa from Veriditas has a frankincense hydrosol that is over 20 years old that has not spoiled. Frankincense Hydrosol
