Why Am I Here & What Is Juicing?

  • Juice (jo͞os/) verb , gerund or present participle: juicing
  • Extract the juice from (fruit or vegetables).
  • Using a small appliance, known as a juicer (prices range from $50-$5,000).
  • Drinking the juice of fruits and vegetables means consuming their water and much of their vitamin and mineral and phytonutrient content.
  • The pulp, or fiber, which also has many health benefits, is removed, UNLESS you are using a slow or masticating juicer that does retain most of the pulp in the juice, thus resulting in a thicker juice.

Why Should You Juice?

  1. Juicing helps you absorb all the nutrients from the fruit and vegetables.
  2. Juicing helps you detox.
  3. Juicing gives your digestive system a break.
  4. Juicing helps you consume a healthier amount of vegetables in an efficient manner.
  5. You can add a wider variety of veggies to your diet.
  6. Calorie reduction without nutrient deprivation.
  7. Promote weight loss.
  8. Boosts your immune system.
  9. Increase your energy.
  10. Support your brain health.

How Is Juicing Different Than Eating Fruits & Vegetables?

  • You don’t have to chew
  • You don’t have to use energy digesting
  • You can consume a LARGE amount of veggies in 1 day

How Is Juicing Different Than Smoothies (Vitamix, Nutribullet)?

Juice:

  • Consume more fruit and vegetables.
  • Extracts the juice from the fruit and vegetables.
  • Much if not all (depending on your juicer) of the fiber is or pulp is removed.

Smoothie:

  • Consume less fruit and vegetables.
  • Consist of the entire fruit and vegetable.
  • Contains ALL the fiber and tend to be more filling.
  • Faster to make.

Types of Juicers

Centrifuge – Fast Juicer:

  • Easy to use
  • Faster to juice
  • Less expensive
  • Less food prep
  • Nutrients oxidize quicker
  • Doesn’t juice greens well.
  • No pulp (fiber)

Masticating – Slow Juicer:

  • Easy to use
  • Extracts more juice
  • Better for leafy greens
  • Less foam
  • More nutrients
  • Slower to juice
  • *The Hurom Elite Juicer has an option and two screens to allow more or less pulp (fiber).
*Make sure you buy a juicer that is easy to clean – otherwise you will NEVER use it!

The Juice Cleanser

Uses a juice concoction with the goal of detoxing the body and giving the gut a rest.

The Juice Snacker

Enjoys freshly squeezed juice with a meal or snack, and occasionally replaces a meal with only juice.  This juicer simply likes juice or feels that fresh juice is a healthy addition to their diet on occasion.

WON Juicing Tips

  • Find a couple of recipes you like and make a shopping list. Leave the donuts in the bakery!
  • Need recipes?
  • Go to our website – WONNampa.com
  • juicerecipes.com
  • rebootwithjoe.com.
  • Buy Organic Produce! You will not obtain optimal health by filling your body with GMOs, herbicides and pesticides.
  • Wash your produce!

Guidelines For Good Washing:

  • Never use soap on your produce (or in your water bottles by the way!)  It doesn’t come back off!
  • Plain running water is perfectly acceptable.  Buying overpriced “Veggie Wash” is a waste of money, in my opinion.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is a good cleanser and is what we use.
  • SOAK & RINSE:  For anything that you can, the most thorough way of cleaning is to soak the fruit/veggie in a sink of water with some apple cider vinegar and then rinse well (& scrub- see below) under running water.
